Job Description:
The Department of Botany and Plant Ecology at Weber State University, a dual-mission regional state institution, invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, instructor position beginning July 1, 2026. This is a one-year contract but may be renewable at the sole discretion of the university depending on program needs and funding.
Job Duties:
The primary responsibility of successful applicants will be to teach lower division botany courses, some of which contain a laboratory component. Teaching responsibilities will include some combination of the following (descriptions available at http://catalog.weber.edu/): BTNY 1010 LS Plants: Apocalypse Prevention, BTNY 1403 LS Principles of Environmental Science, and BTNY 2114 Evolutionary Survey. Depending on department needs, instruction in the applicant’s area of expertise may also be possible. The teaching load for this position will be 12-15 credit hours per 15-week semester. Some department service may also be required.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
• M.S. in Botany or related field.
• Teaching experience in Botany or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Botany or a related field.
• Demonstrated commitment to high-quality undergraduate education.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience teaching comparable courses to those listed above.

Physical Requirements of this position: Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls exerting forces greater than that for sedentary work.
Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
