The School of Life Sciences (SOLS) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for the Director of the ASU Biocollections with a concurrent appointment as a tenured associate or full professor. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2025. The successful candidate will provide inspirational vision, quality leadership, and sound management for one of the fastest-growing biological collections in the US. Assistant Professor of Botany - SUNY Oswego

Located on the southeast shore of Lake Ontario, the Department of Biological Sciences at SUNY Oswego is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor of Botany. Areas of expertise may include plant systematics, plant evolution, phylogeography, and paleobotany. Our department has a long botanical tradition exemplified in part by our greenhouse, an NSF supported herbarium, the Rice Creek Field Station, and campus native plant initiatives.

Research Botanist - US

The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History currently has openings for two full- time Research Botanists. The Department of Botany seeks candidates with demonstrated expertise in, and a commitment to, collections-based research centered on plant systematics and evolution. Those with a research program focusing on the systematics of lichens, marine algae, or large angiosperm families for which the United States National Herbarium has strong holdings (e.g., Asteraceae, Fabaceae, Melastomataceae, Orchidaceae, or Rubiaceae) are especially encouraged to apply.

Orchid Research Botanist

This is an exciting and dynamic time to be a member of Selby Gardens’ team, with a new 55,000 sq. ft. solar array and the Plant Research Center which houses the library (7500 volumes dating to the mid-1700s), herbarium (120,000 specimens), the second-largest botanical spirit collection in the world (35,000 specimens), and the molecular and flasking laboratories. A new glasshouse complex is forthcoming.

The Director is in charge of all operations at the Conservatory, and interacts with faculty, staff and students.

Assistant Professor of Plant Evolution - MONT

This is a full-time, academic year (9-month) tenure track position with 45% teaching, 45% research, and 10% Service.

This position requires that the successful candidate develop a focused program of research, teaching, and service activities related to plant evolution and biodiversity (e.g., systematics, comparative biology, speciation, adaptation, phylogeography). Teaching responsibilities include an upper-level course on Plant Systematics, contributing to other courses in the curriculum as determined with the Department Head, and advising undergraduate and graduate students. The position also includes curating the Montana State herbarium (MONT), and performing appropriate university, professional, and public service relevant to the position.
