Annual Meeting
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are pleased to announce that the ASPT auction will return this summer at the annual meeting in Providence! This year we will have a team of three auctioneers: Dave Barrington, Rick McCourt and James Beck will do the “calling.”
This year we will hold the live auction after the president elect’s talk (the bar will remain open to keep everyone happy!). There will also be a silent auction that will run through the mixer and dinner. It should be an enjoyable evening, and profitable too if participants bid high and bid often!
Proceeds from the auction are used to support our students. For example, the reduced prices for students at the ASPT banquet and the funding to help students participate in a field trip at the annual meeting are two efforts that the auction helps to fund.
For this to be a success we need your donations of items for the auction. Please think about auction items that will be interesting, humorous, or special in some other way that will make them desirable. Think outside the book! Books can be very good, and we hope to have a nice variety of books to auction, but at the same time we would like to have a nice range of diversity on the auction table- botanical arts and crafts, botanical kitsch, etc. Anything that two or more people might want to buy. The auctioneers will take it from there!
Please send your donations to me at the address below. I will send a letter acknowledging your donation to ASPT. I would like to receive as much material in advance as possible to minimize the amount of paperwork and preparation on site in Providence.
