Smithsonian Forest Global Earth Observatory – Center for Tropical Forest Science (ForestGEO-CTFS) seeks a talented, resourceful, and collegial person to serve as Program Manager for a global research network committed to the study of tropical and temperate forests. Required are the financial and administrative skills needed to plan, manage, and coordinate programs for a global research and training network. Must have the ability to interpret scientific findings to write scientific progress and summary reports; to work effectively with people from various cultural backgrounds, and to coordinate logistics and plan events. Desired skills include the ability to prepare and deliver scientific presentations, to analyze and assess various types of scientific, financial and administrative data, and to develop and implement both oral and written outreach strategies. Also preferred is knowledge of and experience with donor cultivation and development opportunities, international organizations related to the environment, and the use of computer and software programs for basic accounting and website management.

The Program Manager reports to the Director of ForestGEO-CTFS. The position is a Trust Fund position, supported through revenues. Starting salary is TBD, with potential for advancement, plus retirement and healthcare benefits. Position is based at program headquarters in Washington, DC, at the National Museum of Natural History.
