The Munich herbaria (M and MSB) with together 3 million specimens and thus among the World's top 20 in size, are seeking to fill the position of "curator of phanerogams", with a starting date of 1 February 2014. He/she will be responsible for the enlargement, preservation, and scientific curation of part of our phanerogam holdings; will participate in ongoing research on the biodiversity of Bavaria and central Europe; and will carry out research that takes advantage of the unique strengths of our collections. He/she will also have to handle and answer occasional enquiries from the public and from other state institutions, thus a working knowledge of German is essential.
Successful applicants will hold a doctorate in biology and have a solid knowledge of the European flora.
The starting salary will be in the range of 13 TV-L (you can calculate this here: http://oeffentlicher-dienst.info/tv-l/west/), and the initial duration is for 2 years, with potential permanence following an evaluation. Applicants with severe physical disabilities who are otherwise equally qualified will be given preference.
